Background. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, hands-on training was suspended. It was necessary to adapt teaching methodologies for use in online environments and this represented an innovation.
Method. A classroom experience was created and trialed from April to May 2020 in the course Practicum V of the Nursing Degree at the University of Seville. It was divided into 3 phases and consisted of 2 activities for students to complete: a webinar, with previous student autonomous work to answer a set of 5 questions regarding knowledge, skills, and attitudes related to delivering nursing care in a COVID-19 pandemic situation, and the design and creation of a clinical case by students with the nursing diagnosis 0030 Impaired gas exchange as the starting premise.
Results. Seventy-four students participated, with an average age of 20 years (SD = 2), with 80% of them being women. All the answers given by them were completely relevant and were discussed in the webinar. The clinical cases created by the students were based on the premise proposed, and the students demonstrated knowledge of the disease and specific nursing care. Regarding to the clinical competencies, all of them also expressed that it might have been better for them to experience COVID-19 cases in person, with real patients.
Conclusion. Teaching staff should design and create strategies to facilitate as much as possible the acquisition of clinical competencies related to COVID-19 by students in order to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical training imposed by public health legislation.

Thank you very much for your comment.
We identified these 5 questions as the minimum necessary knowledge that the student had to acquire, carrying out a rapid review by the department's teaching staff. We identified the descriptors like Covid-19, nursing cares, individual portection equipment. Moreover, we searched at the Joanna Briggs Institute Library, in order to identify nursing interventions with highest levels of recommendation, in that moment (March of 2020).
Considering the conclusions of this review, these 5 questions arose, and it was not therefore a difficult process: it was developed entirely as teleworking and virtual meetings, due to the pandemic situation.

Buenas tardes Raimundo, muchas gracias por tu pregunta y por haber escuchado la ponencia.
Comparto contigo que las Universidades no fomentan estas competencias intelectuales que son básicas y fundamantales, al menos en las disciplinas de ciencias de la salud (donde hay que proveer cuidados o tratamientos, basados en decisiones justificadas, juicios clínicos, y con evidencia científica). Imagino que en el campo de la educación pasa algo similar, cuando el docente debe seleccionar la mejor estrategia de enseñanza-aprendizaje, u potros procesos que desconozco. Por ello, es importante, no solamente "trasladar conocimientos", sinó facilitar contextos de práctica de competencias intelectuales.
Como docentes, tenemos también esa responsabilidad, y de igual forma, la de estar actualizados y formados en estrategias de innovación docente.
En la Universidad de Sevilla tenemos un programa de Innovación Docente para todo el profesorado que quiera adherirse, y en él, además de un curso de formación para la docencia universitaria básico, se organizan seminarios o talleres (sobre rúbricas, flipped classroom, etc..) con el objetivo que los docentes implemente Ciclos de Mejora en el Aula. Por tanto, que se actualicen en metodologías docentes, sea cuál sea su especialidad.

Gracias por tu ponencia, Regina. Interesante escuchar tus reflexiones.
Yo provengo del ámbito educativo y no del sanitario. Me ha gustado mucho cuando hablas de fomentar el pensamiento reflexivo y crítico en nuestros estudiantes. Mi pregunta es clara, ¿el actual sistema educativo (con independencia del grado que el alumnado esté estudiando) fomenta esos aspectos y valores tan importante que destacas respecto a la reflexión y crítica. O más bien es un sistema en el que el alumno sigue siendo receptor pasivo y poco crítico con la tarea y la labor del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje.
